Hi, I’m Travis Walker with The Law Offices of Travis R. Walker.
Here we do a lot of divorces and divorces involve a lot of mediations. And with mediations it’s important to know that they’re confidential and they’re non-binding. You can come out of the mediation with a complete agreement, a partial agreement, or no agreement at all, and you’re not required to come to any type of agreement but it gives you an opportunity to really try and settle the case.
Here at our office we know that our clients are going through a very difficult time with divorces and it’s also an expensive process. In order for us to get our clients through the process as quickly as possible, the mediation is a great tool to allow that to happen. We do not advocate to our clients to accept something simply because it’s on the table. Our job as your attorney would be to advocate for you, fight for you, do everything we can, advise you on the law and tell you what our crystal ball (the best of our ability) tells us with regards to what we think the court might do.
It’s important to weigh all of these options out when you’re at mediation because it can be a very stressful and time consuming process; That’s why it’s important to make sure that the financial affidavit and mandatory disclosure is up to date before we go into mediation because that way we are not having a fruitless time when it comes to it.
